Perception of Design

It is very interesting to me how design is perceived. The other day I saw a print design that was based on a design that was done in the mid-80s. The design from the 80s was cheesy, had a bad layout, poor color selection, and ugly font. Not the best design. The new print design that was created to mock the design of the 80s used very similar colors, fonts, and layout… quite cheesy, but this new design I thought was great. My mind perceived it as a greatly detailed throw-back to what was standard when the bee’s knees of apparel was 5 inch shoulder pads. If you were to put the designs side by side and reverse the dates they were created, I just might like the original better. Mental madness… on to the next design!
